We Grow in the Way of Jesus as We Journey & Learn Together.

This is not just a website, not just a blog. This is part of a larger conversation, a larger journey. We — the student members, our alumni, staff, and our faithful supporters — covenant to connect, worship, grow, and go in Christ’s way as we journey and learn together in this time, and in this place. We do this because we know that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a Spirit of wisdom and understanding.

In that Spirit, welcome to the conversation. We hope that you will invite others to join us. We hope that you will share with us your own stories, so that they can be added to our conversation.

Through this blog, it is our intent that you will find archives of stories, confessions, prayers, devotions, and theological reflections that demonstrate the Spirit working and moving in our ministry at (and beyond) Kennesaw State University. Subscribe to the feed (on the right) or check back regularly and be a part of the conversation!

Joyfully on the journey with you…

I don’t know if that shocks you but after I thought about it for a few minutes I realized that it didn’t shock me. Here’s why…

Most 18-23 year olds (most Christians today no matter what age they are if we want to be completely honest) don’t read their Bible on a regular basis. We read everything else. Every self-help book available. Every personal growth book on the Christian book store shevles. We make jokes about our Bibles having a thick layer of dust on them and how they are lost somewhere deep under a pile of magizines on our night stand. The sad truth is, we don’t spend a lot of time in the Bible. Therefore, we don’t have a biblical worldview. How can a person have a biblical worldview if they don’t read the Bible?

That’s why I have decided to challenge the CELTIC CROSS Community to read all the way through the Bible this Fall. It’s awesome to study certain books of the Bible. It’s great to study verses of the Bible. But there’s something to reading from Genesis to Revelation. You start to understand that the Bible is a story. A story about God and how he has revealed Himself to His people.

A friend of mine once told me, if you were going to be apart of a Harry Potter book club it would be a requirement that you had to read the Harry Potter Books. I’m sure the same rule would apply to a Twilight book club too (I wouldn’t know. Sorry ladies.)! We need to challenge those in the church to read the book that we base our faith on. We need to be a book club that challenges its members to read the book that tells the story of the God we worship. That is why I am challenging you to read the Bible in 90 days this Fall.

Will you join me?

Here’s how it will work. The 90 Day Bible Challenge will start on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. We will read around 11 chapters every day and we will read 2 chapters of Psalms and/or Proverbs.

It will be easy to get off track and get distracted so I encourage you to join up with a few people that can share this challenge with you, talking about what you’re reading, sharing your interpretations with one another, and holding each other accountable. Journal about your experience. Underline things. Highlight things. Circle things. Ask questions.

And let me assure you of this…Satan does not want you to do this. He will attack you in the midst of this challenge. So pray that God will protect you. Ask others to pray that God will give you the courage and strength to resist evil. Maybe read the Psalms in the morning and make them your prayer. Do whatever it takes to resist Satan because he will try to knock you down.

This isn’t just for the CELTIC CROSS Community. Invite your family, friends, home churches, boyfriends, girlfriends, whoever to join us.

Let’s become a generation that delights in the decrees of our God and a generation that will not neglect His written revelation!
