A Letter to Parents:

Parents, welcome to the CELTIC CROSS website.  As the Presbyterian Campus Minister at Kennesaw State University, I want you to know that I am here to assist you during this time of transition for you and your student.  I believe - and strongly encourage - that parents should be involved in the faith formation and spiritual nurture of their children, especially during college.

The social environment of today's college is far more complex than it was even just a few years ago.  As students transition from high school to college, they will be faced with many difficult decisions, including choosing new friends and whether or not they will associate with a Christian community.  Their faith will most certainly be challenged and they will need your encouragement.

In 2007, a LifeWay Research
study revealed that two-thirds of the teens who stayed connected to a Christian community as young adults described these communities as "a vital part of their relationship with God" – demonstrating the importance of Christian community while in college.

Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions that I hope will help you learn more about our ministry.  But don't hesitate to contact me should you have other questions.  I look forward to getting to know you and your student.

P.S. - If you're looking for a great book to give your new college student, I highly recommend

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Celtic Cross?

Celtic Cross is a mission ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in partnership with Cherokee Presbytery and it's 41 churches in Northwest Georgia.  Celtic Cross has been serving and ministering to the KSU community since Fall 2002.  It is an inclusive Christian community that is open to anyone and encourages spiritual growth.

Is Celtic Cross for Presbyterians only?

No way! Celtic Cross is open to anyone who is looking for truth, meaning and purpose in life as we examine and consider the life and teachings of Christ.

Can you contact my student?

Absolutely, we would be honored to contact your student and invite them to check out Celtic Cross.  All we ask is that you not ask us to contact your student if you're not willing for us to tell them that YOU asked us to call them.  This sort of "blind call" can be intrusive, offensive, and counter productive.  It's usually helpful if you let them know that someone will be contacting them from Celtic Cross.

What if my student doesn't like Celtic Cross?

We hope that your student does like Celtic Cross, but if they don't our goal is to connect them to a Christian community, even if it's not Celtic Cross.  There are several other campus ministries on campus that may be able to help to your student in a way that we can not.  Feel free to contact the Baptist Student Union, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Wesley Foundation (United Methodist), or the Episcopal Student Ministry.

Do you have a Parent's Night?

Yes.  Each semester, we host a PARENTS NIGHT.  This is a special time for your student to share Celtic Cross with you.  We hope you'll join us!  Watch for your invitation in the mail.

I would like to give financially to the ministry of Celtic Cross. How do I do that?

Celtic Cross functions totally upon the gifts and contributions of supporting churches, family, and friends of the ministry.  Contributions to Celtic Cross are, of course, tax deductible and receipted with every donation. Just make out your donation check to "Cherokee Presbytery" and put "CELTIC CROSS - KSU" in the memo line.

You can mail your donation to the following address:
